Technology continues to transform how engineers, municipalities, authorities, builders, contractors, and developers approach projects. At Carroll Engineering, our Surveying Department utilizes drone/UAV imaging and 3D laser scanning technology to capture accurate, high-quality data that helps clients make informed decisions throughout planning, design, construction, and long-term asset management.
Whether documenting existing conditions, evaluating infrastructure, or monitoring construction progress, these tools enable our team to collect information efficiently and provide a detailed view of the project site.

Why It Matters
Drone imaging and 3D laser scanning provide clients with detailed information quickly and accurately. These technologies help improve project understanding, support planning efforts, enhance visualization, and create a reliable record of existing conditions before design and construction begin. We combine innovative technology with experienced staff to deliver practical solutions and actionable data at every stage of a project.
Our Approach
We help clients:
- Better understand existing site conditions
- Improve project planning and decision-making
- Reduce field risks and improve safety
- Capture accurate data efficiently
- Support design, construction, and asset management efforts
Using drone imaging and 3D laser scanning allows our team to document large sites,
complex facilities, and hard-to-access areas quickly while maintaining a high level of
accuracy
Project Spotlight:
Heartis Senior Living Facility- Warminster Township
Carroll Engineering utilized 3D laser scanning technology to support floor
levelness and deviation as-built at the Heartis Senior Living Facility in
Warminster Township, Bucks County. The scan data was used to create an
elevation-style surface, helping document variations in concrete floor conditions
with a high level of detail.
This type of technology provides project teams with a clearer understanding of
existing conditions and supports more informed decisions during review,
coordination, and planning.
Looking Ahead
As projects become more complex and clients seek faster access to reliable information,
technologies such as drone surveying and 3D laser scanning continue to play a larger role in
project delivery. These tools allow project teams to collect comprehensive site data, improve
visualization, and make decisions based on accurate existing conditions before design and
construction begin. This results in better planning, more efficient project execution, and improved
long-term asset management.
