As the largest water service provider in the state, they supply drinking water and wastewater service to about 2.9 million people across more than 190 communities, with additional service provided through bulk purchase agreements.

Ongoing Investment in Infrastructure
New Jersey American Water continually maintains and upgrades its facilities to meet regulatory standards and operate efficiently. This work includes treatment plants, tanks, pump stations, pipes, hydrants, and metering equipment. In 2024, they invested over $520 million statewide to strengthen and modernize these systems.
Commitment to Water Quality
Their team performs thousands of tests each year on water leaving treatment plants and moving through distribution lines, monitoring for more than 90 different contaminants. They also utilize American Water’s Central Laboratory in Belleville, Illinois, which provides advanced drinking water testing and analysis capabilities.
